British Airways is the largest airline of the
 United Kingdom and second-largest in Europe and it
is a global airline, offering
 an extensive world wide service eligible
for AAdvantage mileage accrual and redemption
within the United Kingdom and Europe and
between Europe and Canada, Mexico, the
Caribbean, South America, the Middle East,
Africa, Asia, and the South Pacific.

In 1919, British Airways' predecessor,
Aircraft Transport and Travel Limited began
the first international daily flight service
between London and Paris.
In 1936 British Airways Ltd. was founded
through the
merger of three smaller airlines
British Airways is a member of the oneworld® alliance.
The British Airways name returned in 1974
with the government-mandated merger of BOAC
and British European Airways (BEA).
The airline was privatized in 1987.
